Elkin Music
Sweet music never tasted so good as with one of these delicious, aptly named 'whistle pops'. This whistle-shaped candy is made by the famous Chupa Chups brand and the lolly stick has an ingenious plunger. So, blow the whistle and move the plunger in and out and in no time at all you'll be playing the theme tune to 'Eastenders'. However, you'll give up long before you reach that level as the candy is so irresistible and that means you'll probably prefer to eat your instrument instead!Various flavours

Shawnee Press
A work of such magnificent fun and exuberant character that choirs will be eager to learn and perform it, whilst audiences will want to ride the train all night! Originally commissioned by the Cincinnati Women’s Choir, MUSE and its director, Dr. Catherine Roma and has been wonderfully arranged by Jacqueline B Hairston. A fabulous spiritual set for unaccompanied upper voices, though whistles and other effects can be used in support. In fact, the key to performing this spiritual well is with imagination and there are suggestions on how to embellish and ornament your performance with sounds and variations to evoke images of this chuffing and chugging train!

Malcolm Arnold: Fantasy
Sheet Music
Spartan Press Music Publishers
Malcolm Arnold wrote this little fantasy in the early 1960s as a present for his children, Katharine and Robert, to play together. Even as a miniature, it has many of the hallmarks of the Arnold style: the evocative melodic writing, together with the occasional dark dissonance. It was written at a time when Arnold was deeply into film music; indeed, in the famous film 'Whistle Down the Wind' the main theme is also for flute/piccolo and is not entirely dissimilar to that found in this fantasy.

Sheet Music
Novello and Co Ltd
El remanso del pitido has been commissioned by the London Sinfonietta for the London Sinfonietta Chorus who give the first performance this evening. It is a work of nostalgia, a lament for the decline of steam engines - the stillness of the whistle. Based mainly on a poem by the Spanish writer, Gregorio Corral. The setting is for twelve voices, eight of them singing through close microphones. The work is fourth in a series of pieces derived from 13th Century homophonic Spanish cantigas and canciones. The final series of works will form a sort of song-book, the composer's own accounts of early Spanish music. The idea of a song-book is contained in the title of the first work of the series, Cancionero para una mariposa.

Sacred Weave Melody Edition
Sheet Music
Kevin Mayhew Ltd
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne acts as a spiritual magnet for hundreds of thousands seeking refreshment and renewal, drawn to the ancient Christian site by the sense of God's presence. Prayer, meditation and worship are at the centre of the island community's life. Keith Duke, encouraged by David Adam, the priest-poet of Lindisfarne whose words he sets, together with those of Ray Simpson and others, has developed a musical language that has its roots in Celtic music, yet speaks too in the twenty-first century. Sacred Weave contains fourteen beautiful pieces sung by the group 'Celtic Voices' with instrumental accompaniment including flutes, whistles, guitar, harp and keyboard.
